Nací en Chile en 1952 y allí viví en un pueblo cercano a Santiago, Peñaflor hasta los 17 años. Fui una niña muy tímida y asustadiza y desde muy pequeña me sentí muy atraída por el dibujo y la pintura, dibujar y colorear eran mi refugio, la manera en que podía soñar y escapar de un mundo en el que no me encontraba. Mi familia se mudó a vivir en México en 1970 porque a mi papa lo transfirieron a este país por su trabajo.
Debido a mi educación tradicional, estudiar para ser artista era algo impensable para mí y por eso estudié la carrera de biología en la Universidad Autónoma de México. Siempre me gustó mucho la naturaleza, los animales, plantas, insecos y me gustaba aprender de todo eso. Seguí estudiando la maestría y el doctorado en Ecología en la misma universidad y trabajé como maestra y en la investigación científica durante varios años. Participé en investigaciones en la estación de biolgía de la UNAM en Chamela Jalisco siendo becaria del doctrado del Dr. José Sarukhán.
La pintura
En 1986 a los 34 años y después de 17 años en la universidad me di cuenta que la profesión de científica absorbería el 100% de mi tiempo y que yo quería hacer muchas otras cosas en mi vida. Así que un día, sin pensarlo mucho abandoné mi carrera y mi trabajo y me mudé a Cuernavaca para dedicarme de lleno a lo que siempre me había atraído, la pintura. Mi formación como artista fue básicamente autodidacta, aunque estudie con diferentes maestros y participe en talleres y cursos de dibujo de figura humana, pintura y escultura en México D.F, Cuernavaca y San Miguel de Allende. Entre los maestros que me ayudaron a desarrollar mi arte y creatividad en Cuernavaca están los escultores Lourdes Alvarez y Victor Hugo Nuñez . En India conocí a la maestra japonesa Meera, discipula de Osho, con quien tomé algunos talleres que me ayudaron a liberar mas mi creatividad y romper con la rigidez en la pintura.
Viví en Cuernavaca durante 8 años y allí participé activamente con la comunidad de artistas de esa ciudad.
Después cambié mi residencia a Oaxaca, donde vivo desde 1995. En Oaxaca, me encontré de lleno con una enorme fuente de inspiración en mi quehacer artístico. Sus gentes, sus tradiciones, el colorido de las vestimentas, sus paisajes y su luminosidad, me inspiran y me enriquecen constantemente. He participado en muchas exposiciones colectivas y he expuesto mis cuadros en más de 20 exposiciones individuales en diferentes ciudades de México y en el extranjero.

Me casé dos veces y tengo dos hijos y dos nietos y actualmente vivo en la ciudad de Oaxaca donde sigo pintando y enseño yoga y meditación en el centro de yoga Casa del Angel

I was born in Chile in 1952 and there lived in a village near Santiago, Penaflor, until I was17 years old. I remember being a very shy and scared little girl and from a very young age I felt very attracted to painting. Drawing and coloring were my refuge, the way I could dream and escape from a world in which I did not fit in. My family moved to live in Mexico in 1970 because my dad was transferred to this country by his work.
Because of my conservative education, studying to be an artist was something unthinkable for me, so I studied to be a biologyst at the University of Mexico. I had always liked nature, animals, plants, insects and I loved to learn more about nature. I continued studying the MS and Ph.D. in Ecology at the same university and worked as a teacher for several years. I participated in a scientific research at the University of Mexico biological center in the town of Chamela in Jalisco being a scholarship holder of Dr. Jose Sarukhan
Painting
In 1986, at age of 34 and after 17 years in the university, I realized that the scientific occupation absorbed 100% of my time and that I wanted to do many others things in my life. So one day, without much thinking, I quit my career and my job and moved to Cuernavaca to dedicate myself to what always had attracted me: painting. My training as an artist was basically autodidact but I took several workshops in nude figure drawing, painting and sculpture in D.F Mexico, Cuernavaca and San Miguel de Allende. Among the teachers who helped me to develop my art and creativity in Cuernavaca were the sculptors Lourdes Alvarez and Victor Hugo Nuñez. In India I met Meera, a japanese teacher, disciple of Osho, with whom I took some workshops to paint in a more spontaneous way and to free my creativity.
I lived in Cuernavaca for 8 years and during that time I actively participated with the community of artists. Then I changed my residence to Oaxaca, where I live since 1995. In Oaxaca, I found huge inspiration for my artistic work. Its people, its traditions, colorful costumes, landscapes and light, constantly inspires and enriches me. I have participated in many group exhibitions and have exhibited my paintings in more than 20 solo exhibitions in different cities in Mexico, in Norway and Chile.
I married twice and I have two children and two grandchildren and I currently live in the city of Oaxaca where I continue to paint and teach yoga and meditation at the Casa del Angel yoga center
